Broomfield: Meet Colin, Your Candidate Choice

Updated: 6 days ago

City Council elections...exciting, right? YOU, the voter, are probably eager to learn about the candidates who will shape the future of Broomfield City and County. Hi, I'm Colin, one of those candidates—a passionate and dedicated individual who is here to make a difference. I want to tell you about myself, my vision for Broomfield, and why I may (or may not) be the candidate for you.

Colin Dielmann might just be a name on the ballot; but this name wants to represent you. Your interests, your perspective, and what's important to you should be represented. Ward 2 has its unique challenges and opportunities, and Broomfield as a whole can do better. I hope in reading this you see my desire to serve and improve the lives of others.

My Background

I’m sorry to say that I am not native to Colorado. I am but a transplant, yet I take immense pride in calling Colorado my home. My original journey began in the far east, in the bustling City of Clifton, New Jersey. Yes, I know what you might be thinking—Jersey, right? But please, allow me to elaborate and share my story with you. My hometown, much like the vibrant community of Broomfield, was home to around 80,000 people, creating a lively atmosphere filled with diverse cultures and experiences. Born and raised in this dynamic environment, I grew up in a neighborhood that closely resembles the suburban charm of Broomfield, where tree-lined streets and friendly faces were the norm. My parents worked hard to provide me and my siblings with a nurturing home and a solid education, instilling in us the values of perseverance, respect, and the importance of community. They believed in the power of learning and encouraged us to explore our interests, whether it was through academics, sports, or the arts. While I may not have been born in Colorado, my journey from my hometown to this stunning landscape has shaped my appreciation for the life I now lead. I am grateful for the opportunities I have found here and look forward to continuing to explore and grow in this remarkable place I now call home.

I'm not a politician either. My education was not in Political Science and I am not affiliated with any political party. In school, I studied aeronautical science and became a pilot. However, my career switched to public service rather quickly. I became a teacher working for a school district. As an active flight instructor and aeronautics teacher, my entire professional career became based on empowering the next generation with an amazing set of skills. I'm an active member for several local non-profit organizations, focusing on community development and engagement. My goal is to use my experience, which has equipped me so many skills, to benefit Broomfield.

My commitment to the people is simple: I represent you. Everything I do, personally and professional, is with the greater community in mind. I come to you, unaffiliated, with no agenda, to ask, "what can Broomfield do for you?"

My Drive

My motivations for running are deeply rooted in my commitment to improving our community and addressing the pressing issues we face. Here are the key motivations driving my campaign:

  • Housing and Utility Costs: The rising costs of housing and utilities are placing an unbearable burden on our residents. It is crucial to address these issues to ensure that Broomfield remains an affordable place to live for everyone. I am dedicated to exploring innovative solutions that will alleviate these financial pressures and promote equitable access to housing and essential services.

  • Stunted Business Growth: As a small business owner, I understand the challenges that local enterprises face. The current environment has led to stunted growth for many businesses in Broomfield. I am committed to creating a more supportive atmosphere for entrepreneurs, fostering economic development that benefits our entire community.

  • Wasteful Spending of Tax Dollars: It is imperative that we hold our government accountable for how tax dollars are spent. I aim to eliminate wasteful spending and ensure that our resources are allocated effectively to meet the needs of our residents. Transparency and fiscal responsibility will be at the forefront of my administration.

  • Inefficient Programs: Many programs currently in place are not delivering the results we need. I intend to review and assess these programs critically, seeking out ways to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness. Our community deserves services that truly meet their needs and contribute to a better quality of life.

  • Blind Leadership: Leadership should be responsive and aware of the community's needs. I am committed to being a leader who listens, engages, and acts on the concerns of Broomfield's residents. It is time for leadership that prioritizes the voices of the people over political agendas.

TLDR; Why me?

Because City Council elections are just so fascinating, you may be really curious about this candidate. The gist:

  1. My Experience: My roots across Colorado in various cities, in business, in school districts, ground me with a unique perspective. A perspective that sees your unique perspective. A perspective that understands a community's needs and leads me to be committed to addressing those needs.

  2. My Track Record: I have a history of community involvement and public service. Most of my work is in non-profit organizations. I am dedicated to making a positive impact wherever I go and I'll do everything in my power to make Broomfield better.

  3. Visionary: It' not just about today; it is about building a sustainable future. I have a clear plan and the passion to see it through.

  4. Engaging: I don't know how approachable I look, but please come up and talk to me! I want to listen to your ideas and I value your opinion whether I agree or not. Residents need to be involved in collaborative decision-making.

  5. Transparent: I believe in open government. I want to keep you informed and involved in the decision-making process. Government should not be up to me, it should be up to you!
